THE CHASER

This story is about a drink, as the title implies. But the drink is not an alcoholic beverage. It is a love potion. The story is a fable about unrequited love. A young man named Allan is madly in love with a young woman named Diana, but she is not in love with him. He comes across an advertisement for a love potion and goes to the shop where the love potion is sold. The shopkeeper is most unusual. He is a man barely three feet tall. He is wearing a green coat with shiny brass buttons, red pants and a red beard topped by a green wide brimmed hat. He looks for all the world like a leprechaun but, of course, Allan knows there is no such thing. However, the. love potion the shopkeeper sells does have magical powers. It will make Diana fall in love with Allan - wildly, insanely, and forever. Just what he wants. This story is a fable, and like all fables it has a moral: Be careful what you wish for. You might get it.
