SEMINARS ON STORYTELLING FOR ADULTS:

Fractured Fairy Tales: Making Classic Fairy Tales Relevant

Fairy tales reflect the world in which they originated - the medieval world. One way to make them relevant to the modern world is by fracturing them. A fractured fairy tale is a classic fairy tale that retains the basic plot and characters of the original story but changes it in unexpected ways, giving it a modern perspective and ironic twists. We will explore the different ways to fracture a fairy tale (there are nine that I know of) and give some famous examples from literature, stage and screen. The instructor will illustrate the various ways with some original fractured fairy tales of her own.
